Portable Water Filtration Systems

The best home water filter for your drinking water would be one that is gravity-fed, non-electric, and portable. Why? We will always have gravity, but we may not always have electricity, especially during severe weather emergencies; and if it's portable, you can take it with you and filter whatever source of water you find, whether it's from the tap or a pond.
As for a filter that fits onto the tap, if it develops a crack, the water pressure will force the water through the crack and not through the filter. Gravity-fed is always the most reliable.

Don't forget to protect yourselves from the contaminants found in the tap water you shower with. The following link will take you to a page full of links, so you can research the various types of shower filters. Some filters may be available at your local Lowe's or Home Depot. Remember that pollutants, e.g. chlorine can be absorbed through the skin and breathed into the lungs.

Well, let me make a 3rd attempt to get this answer published. I'm new to blogging.

The Doulton Water Company is the parent company of the British Berkefeld Water Filter. I have a Berkey water filter and love it.

Lately, I have been hearing that some unscrupulous suppliers have been selling ineffective, counterfeit replacement filters to some of the dealers.

Check the quality of your filter by adding red food coloring to the water in the top cannister. If it drips clear into the bottom cannister, you have a good product. If color is visible in the bottom cannister, you need to contact your company for a replacement or refund.

The Doulton Company carries the original quality replacement filters.

Hope my answer publishes this time.

The berkey is great. But, let's not also forget about the pf-2 fluoride filter. That's a handy one to have if your fed by city water.
